Just kidding. It has been an interesting month working with this theme. I feel that overall I was able to maintain my theme, but also branch out into whatever interested me. One thing that I am convinced of- I think I am really finding my style as an artist. It feels good, like a pair of shoes that fits just right. My style is figurative-based, mainly the female face, with saturated, unapologetic color, digressions in texture, unabashed curvilinear line that screams 'I LOVE ART NOUVEAU' and yes, the occasional sparkle. And, well, this month at least...some fun, whimsical 3D polymer clay candies. That being said, below is my slideshow for my CEDs this month, music courtesy of DJ Johnny Nice, per usual. (thanks, beb!) Another art happening...I completed my monthly self-portrait. It is a combination of stippling (ink on paper), acrylic paint, acrylic paint mixed with modeling paste for texture, felt pieces, a hand-painted cupcake on felt that I later hand-beaded...add some gems stones and glitter and there you have it, my April self-portait. And...you guessed it. Mention that it is late, blah, blah...time to go to bed...blah, blah...but it sure feels great to be finished! The theme for May...'ONE'...what am I going to do? No idea! Goodnight! Add Comment This should be my new routine...come home, nap, art by the pool, eat, then make more art! I discovered a cool site for creating a panoramic view when I was working on my teaching blog yesterday and I think I may be addicted now...love that site! Now I can show what it was like today when I was working...minus the awesome weather...you can't feel that through the pictures. ![]() From Left to Right: CED #115 in progress, April Self Portrait in Progress, Cupcake for Self Portrait in Progress I worked til the sun set, and I going to work a little more tonight... ...may hold off on posting the finished CED #115 til tomorrow...because I have no idea what I am going to do as of yet... ...in the world of (teaching) art today...6th graders, finishing up the Mehndi hands...7th grade...finishing up our Pop Art Logo paintings...8th grade...sketching out their Character Counts/Graffiti designs on canvas board...5th grade...just busy being awesome. I love teaching ART! I do not, however, love the stress of FCAT. Kiddos, if you happen upon this blog, please take a deep breath...you can do it. In fact, take your FCATS, rock it out, and let's finish the year up making some amazing artwork : ) In the world of art (making)...started to enlarge my first 'sweet thang' per request Angela...worked on my piece for the Self Portrait project...and finished up my CED #103, a blue-haired lady with oreos in her hair...yummmmmm! So how did I spend the last day of the month? (Yesterday, I mean) Hanging out with pretty gals in big floppy hats at the end of the year party for the cheerleaders. Meeting up with my friend Jessie to pick up art for a show later in the month. (The pieces that I am donating are shown below in my windowsill.) Having a fun 'art on the deck' night with Kristen, overlooking Fort Lauderdale...watching her paint wine glasses tentatively at first and then inspired and excited while I finished the final touches on my CEDs for the month and my self portrait. ...and so...it ends. March is over. I completed CEDs 89-91. My self portrait for the month is done. Looking to the new month ahead of me...the suggested Creative Every Day theme is 'Language'. My theme for the next ANE show is 'Pop Art'. I am more inspired by the ANE theme...looking to the works of Wayne Thiebaud and Claes Oldenburg...specifcally taking inspiration from their use of 'sweet' imagery. ...some notes to myself...I have got to sit down and organize these pictures. I have over a hundred new works of art that I have created since January and the photos of the finished works and the process...it is getting out of hand. Waaaaay outta hand. As in...crazy chaos. I was pulling pictures for the slideshow below and it was tough...the pics are out of order, which bothers me, but I am going to try to be okay with it. Sigh. Three-day work week...maybe I can make some time to organize all of this art! So I am almost at the end of the month...working on CEDs 89-91...gonna be in one piece, a triptych. I had saved this cool sparkly box from Sephora back in December...I somehow knew it was destined to be art. And now it is, well, in progress anyhow. I still have much more work to do, but here is the progress for this evening as I worked; Also, CED #88 is dry and in the shadow box frame. Here is what the finished combination of pieces #87 and 88 look like; Lastly...what I am about to start working on (right)...my self portrait for the month...I like the wooden panel that I used last month, so I am revisiting it this month. Not sure where I am going with this, John took some photos today...just gonna start drawing and see what happens. Will I distort my own features? Not sure. Will I use the mandala and continue to include influence from iconography? Yeah, maybe. Will it be sparkly? You bet. A little frustrated. Just typed out my final blog post for this month's work...and...through the magic of the internet...it disappeared. Sigh. What did I say? I think it was an inventory/rambling of sorts...Ummmm…I am finished with my CEDs for this month- all 29 pieces...Something about completing 17 small, mixed media figurative pieces that incorporated the hear t theme…1 Self Portrait in acrylic on wood panel with all kinds of embellishments added….and various bejeweled flip flops, disco balls, heart shaped boxes and other fun things along that way. I think that was it. Here are some pics from this evening; (below) ...and a fun little slide show that shows the various works from the month, finished and in-progress. I created art at home in my studio area in the kitchen, on my couch, at school, at Jessie's house, on planes, in airports, on the judges stand…anywhere I could. One thing I did not do was do a good job organizing all of my pictures. It is late…just gonna leave them in whatever order they are in...yeah, there are some duplicates...ugh...must...sleep... ...make sure your volume is up so you can enjoy the music : ) ....ummmm....so I have my CED's...working on them since I make them in layers...caught up through today but the posting is a bit of a mess...will take time to post individually...hopefully tomorrow if I get a chance...pic below shows the February self-portrait I started today, it is on wood panel, which is new for me and I am really excited...definitely going to add some sparkle to this one...pic started in sketch form (pic 1), and is now in the first layers of painting (pic 2)...the next picture (3) shows my in-progress CEDs...and the final pic (4) is one of the completed ones. Also in the works...might be helping to start a children's art program with a local artist's league. Had a meeting today, lot's of possibilities...very exciting! How does it always end up being so late? Sigh. Gotta get some sleep, busy day of teaching art tomorrow! CED #30 posted...one more to go...also in progress...self portrait for January incorporating my Creative Every Day images (below)...aughhhhh! |
