I really thought I might sleep in this morning...but the cats had other plans. So I figured I might as well head to the pool to work on my CED #132. I am trying to do this as much as I can...before the South Florida heat and humidity make it impossible. Today's lady in blue...she's a mess. Life is a little chaotic, her life is a little upside down at the moment, but she's going to be just fine. I must say, I am really enjoying these blue sketches. I feel a little less stressed working with this one color and medium. Sometimes it is nice to simplify things. Then...I had the most A-MA-ZING experience this afternoon My friend and fellow art teacher Nicole asked me to cover her Bak prep class at the Armory Art Center in West Palm. (Bak is a local arts school that kids have to audition to get into, the level of art being produced, the teachers, the students...all top level) So I said, 'sure'. Folks, that was kind of Twilight Zone experience. 14 little folks...so into their art...listening, evaluating the work...like teaching a college class where the folks are trapped in little kids bodies. It was awesome. We did an opening sketch activity; I was able to walk around and give some in-progress critique of the works and talk to the kids a little...then it was time for...this is perfect for me....SELF PORTRAITS. Really? Is this a dream? (Deep sigh, eyes dreamy) The kids were scheduled to learn about self portraits. Hearts. Fireworks. Tears of joy. Simply amazing. And some real talent in the group. Two hours of art teacher heaven. Thanks so much, Nicole! To top it off...I forgot that today was the ART ROCK craft fair at the Armory. Awesome art, awesome artists...inspiration all around. Even saw some fellow ANE Artists there- what a small, wonderful art world! So now...I am sleepy. Need a nap. The Magic Hat at the Green Room is tonight, need to rest up for that. My piece is one of five to be 'judged' tonight, in person and via Facebook. I am looking forward to seeing the work, and hanging out with fellow Tipsy Art girl, Jess. Pics to come!
