CEDs 144-145 are posted, shown (left) on my drawing table...which by the way, is getting out of control...don't believe me, check out the picture below. The last few days of school...wow, they sure do sap your energy. Maybe it's just me? I was exhausted this afternoon, took a 2 hour nap. I am looking forward to the weekend, donning a bunch of baubles to art it up with my fellow Tipsy Art gals, sleep in (well, for me anyways), maybe draw some at the pool...I am inspired by my friend Jess to maybe go and by a... REALLY BIG CANVAS!!!!!!!!! ...and paint something. Anything. Maybe on the porch. Gotta start this summer off right, folks. Well, I do still have to work on Tuesday, but for me...summer starts tomorrow at 2:40. Bring it!

Somewhere up in the sky I did manage to make a little art, at least one drawing. Whew- talk about cramped working conditions! Thankfully, I am left-handed so the only person I bothered was John, and he was willing to endure the occasional elbow jab in the name of art.
I added some watercolor to today’s drawing, so this was new. For the CA trip I also scaled down the size of the work, leaving my 18x24 watercolor pad at home on the table in favor of a smaller Bristol Board pad, I think it is 9x12? Too lazy to go check in my bag right now (still getting used to the time difference, 3:25 back home= 12:25 here in San Diego) Back to the paper…I really do like working on Bristol board, or a smooth watercolor. I like to feel like I have the option to switch from drawing media to painting/collage and the paper can take it. So this lil’ pad of Bristol should help me to capture some of the inspiration I feel when we come out to the west coast. So one of my goals has been to create a dedicated space for work. I had an easel set up in the kitchen, tons of light, space to move around...but nothing for drawing or beading. To tell you the truth I haven't really worked on a drawing in a while, besides my sketches...and drawing in my sketchbook is just...different. There is something unique to the experience of sitting down with a large piece of white paper and just...drawing. Well, now I think I have got a good area set up. I moved the easel over by the sliding glass doors, still plenty of light. And I moved the table I was using for my computer work area in front of the kitchen window, got another table to replace that one. I wasn't sure what John would think of it...he was sleeping on Sunday when I made the trip to Target for the replacement table and then came back and started rearranging. Lucky for me he understands my need for space to create. Now...just gotta start something...gulp.... |
