First, this;Back when I started making art every day in January of 2012, I started with the help of the Creative Every Day web site. For a while I would stick to the suggested prompts, and I used to be better about remembering to go to the site each month and post a link to my series for that month...it got away from me. I started coming up with other ideas for my monthly themes. And I would forget to post my links. I am going to set a reminder on my phone to help me remember to do this. Fingers crossed, I hope it will help. Even though I don't follow the prompts I do still like to be associated with this group of artists, making the commitment to be creative- every single day. When I am planning my monthly themes now, I try to work in any related happenings...including travel. The reason I am bringing this up is I actually changed my original idea for my September theme due to having to move a trip to NYC back to November. October is ALWAYS something related to Halloween because its always been one of my favorite holidays...and November will be very special...more on that later. ...any ideas?I posted on my FB page for suggestions- and I got some really good ones! The top two contenders were to work with an 'art history' theme and also a 'football' theme. I am thinking about the art history-inspired pieces for maybe January of 2017, I think that would be a great way to start my new year and could lead to ideas for future works (Thanks, Angela!). And the football theme...that was tough. The main reason I opted not to do that one is I felt it was really close to my 2014 Cheerleader-inspired series. But I may revisit that idea in the future. (Thanks, Caitlin, 'B' and Jen!) ...and thank you Morgan, Hannia, Gina, Jenny P and Raquel for your ideas too...will definitely keep those in mind, too! ...and the theme is......okay...but WHY?
The more I thought about it, the more sense it made to me... I first discovered my love for fashion illustration in September of 2012...and ended up creating over 45 illustrations (in addition to my daily art!) and would go on to make many, many more... ...and the new Project Runway airs ton Septmber 15th! (already in my calendar!) And anyone that knows me can tell you how much I adore Tim Gunn...I mean..I even have a laminated 'Pocket Tim' (okay, so I made him a bookmark, but sometimes he travels)
So that's the new series, fashion illustration based on the September 2016 Issue of Vogue Magazine, tagged as #DrawnToFashionJLG on Instagram. Here are the first three ladies, all from Prada Fall 2016;
