...just another evening of art makin'...finished my Creative Every Day entry...I can't believe I am up to #38!...then finished three portraits for the Art Nouveau Event later this month....busy night! Skyping now with my art friend and fellow Tipsy Art girl, Jessie, then heading to bed!
Jess, good luck with your blog- it is going to be awesome! I like to post pics of my work in progress...and the set up. Maybe nobody cares, but it is a form of documentation. I started the drawings today, the one on the left was first. Then the second one while I was waiting for some of the watercolor to dry. Right now I am working in mixed media; various graphite pencils, micron pens (love), my old skool watercolor set (another love), my little pillbox of gems and msc. treasures and I am ready to go. I am not going to write much more...trying to go to bed by 12 and it's 11:59.... (Below) ...these are the pieces I worked on tonight. The first two are finished, a drawing for the ANE show and my CED #38...the one on the far right is not finished yet. I will revisit that tomorrow. Aughhh...it's 12:01...goodnight!
As far as days go...ugh. Living in Florida, when it isn't sunny I think I automatically go into a mini-depression when the sun isn't out. And today...it wasn't. Rain all day. Ick. So, when I got home...after soup and a nap I was ready to create. For this rainy evening I focused on finishing some pieces. I started a figurative sketch yesterday at Jessie's so I worked on that piece. I really like the combination of detail pencil drawing with the watercolor...which is pretty light and contrasts against the dark pen line. Add some hearts, straw-blown hair and small droplets of color and it's done. Also on the drawing table (haha, get it?); finishing up my CED piece for today. I prepped several of these to keep me from stressing out, so today selected one to work on, my focus was on embellishing the work. I started to introduce a little pink into this one, sticking with the saturated jewel tones that I love so much...brought in some stained glass-like line work...added feathers and some sparkles. Number thirty-seven...done. Now I am calling it a night, the Ott Light is off. Side note...a second commission is in the works, a portrait...which may lead to a group portrait...The Avett Brothers this Friday...and another art event at my place is set for this weekend. Now if the rain will go away and the week will go by fast I will be all set. ...sometimes I wake up with this incredible urge to DRAW. I just want to get to a piece of paper as fast as possible, grab some type of mark making tool and....draw. Sometimes it is an urge to PAINT...I hope that this month it will also be an urge to BEAD...but it is an overwhelming feeling that I have to get up and CREATE, something, anything...and as fast as my hands will allow. There, I said it. Let see where the day takes me... Ummmm....yes, I am well aware that this is February 1st...but keep in mind that I didn't start the portrait til Sunday...so due to the late start/idea I reserve the right to include this in my January art makin'. Overall, I like how it came out...it is the first one so I hope that each one will get better or go off in some other direction based on whatever I am working with during that month. At this point my concept is to create one self-portrait each month as a side project to the CED entries that I am working on, bringing in some elements of the other pieces....which reminds me...I better work on my entry for today.
February is going to be filled with hearts...time to get started.... (Below) I came home this afternoon after the gym and it was so nice out, figured I would take the studio outside. My cats really wanted to go, but they watched from the door. I worked til a little after dark. All done! |
