Shameless plug for KNMA! Why, hello there daaahling! How was your day? My day was fabulous...I spent it artin' with the girls... bejeweling some bracelets and photographing art. (In full jewelry, of course. I can't be artin' without my baubles and gems.) Then it was home to work on my CED #201 and a second version of Klimt #2, per request of the talented Giselle Sanchez while watching the first episode of Project Runway.

I did finally stop staring at my sparkly bracelet to stare at more sparkles...wait, don't judge me...at least these were on my artwork for the day! Below is a collage of CEDs #199-200 and my two latest Klimt-inspired pieces, my series within a series. I also included some close ups so you may view the GLITZ!
Seriously. I don't know if I will be able to get any work done today. I was staring at the new bracelet I made last night, watching the gems and baubles catch the light... ooooooh la laaaaaaa ...in a twinkle-trance..so I took it off and put it on the counter. But I keep walking by, and...looking at it. It shines. It sparkles. I love it. I have said it before, and I mean it... if loving sparkly thangs is wrong, I don't wanna be right. ...now, going to try and get something done today...got a planner to start filling in, art to bedazzle and paint...but first, one more glittery glance...
(Sigh) Dear Internal Clock, If I go to bed at 2am, please find it in your heart to allow me to sleep 6-7 hours. I know that 8 hours is a stretch. Sincerely, Jenny
...a few pics from another fabulous girl's art night at Jessie's...(Jess I totally stole some of your pictures, I heart you.) Not pictured, Giselle and Butters. It's late! Good night, ya'll : ) Here are the pieces from yesterday, finally dry. (Left) CED #198 (Right) My third Klimt-inspired piece.
Busy evening...finished up CED #198. Found a great face and just went with it....she seemed so serene. I might have to start these earlier, seems like I don't get going til after 8-9pm most nights with the painting portion of my work, and now that I am using a little more paint and the glue I need to account for drying time. But, anyways...here is a collage that shows the progression of my work this evening from start to finish; After I finished up this piece...well, I figured I might as well make something else. I started making Klimt-inspired pieces the other night and well, it's all I can think about. So I made another one. Not going to post that one til tomorrow, but here is a sneak peek of this piece, also drying right now; . First, a little background. I am way too into my planner. I love it. I love the planner...I love to plan. Finding the perfect planner each summer is something that I both forward to and dread each year. And I know I am not alone, there are others (who shall remain nameless) that also celebrate the planner as I do. Everyone's perfect planner is different. For me...I prefer spiral bound. I have tried working with the various binder style planners in different sizes with all the cool page inserts...they never work for me. They are too bulky, the metal rings hurt my hand...they just don't do it for me. I don't like any color on my pages because I do all of the color coding and also if I erase it makes the color look all faded. And I love tabs, even if I have to make my own. A few years ago, I made my own planner and it worked great for me...but it was hard for me to figure out how to put it together...it took me forever. Plus, I made it specific to a time frame so if I were to reprint the pages I would have to go in and individually changes pages then print. So I started from scratch for this new DIY creation. For this planner...I wanted to create pages that I could reprint from year to year without having to stress about dates. I wanted a planner with big boxes in my monthly and weekly views, and lots of room everywhere for to-do's, doodles and dreams. So here is what I came up with, shown step by step with pictures and descriptions and links to the PDFs I created. NOTE: The pages are already set up in the right order based on printing them front to back.
Here are some additional pages that you could print out and include in the back of your planner;
Just to let you know, this did take me some time because I was creating the templates and figuring out how to put everything together, but it should not take you long if you are making your own, as I have done all the work for you (lucky you!).
And cost? Minimal! I printed the pages front/back on our (laserjet) printer at home, so that just cost paper and ink, which luckily we already had. (score!). I already have a ton of papers and collage items here from making art, but you can get a good selection of scrapbooking papers for under $5 from Michael's or your local art/craft supply store. I used the glue, paper cutter and scissors from Kinko's. The laminating and spiral binding were less than $10.00, also at Kinko's. So this endeavor cost me personally less than $10, but if you have get the pages printed and buy some decorative papers it might cost you $15-$20. Totally worth it. Special thanks to my husband for pretending to share my enthusiasm for planners, going to Kinko's with me and taking pictures for my tutorial...you're off the hook, until next year! If you want the original Word documents to edit them, please email me and I will be happy to send them to you. And if you read this post and make you own planner, please email me a picture- I would love to see it! (jll1203@hotmail.com) ...on to something? Maybe? I am really loving working with the tight rendering in contrast with the gold and glitz. The more I draw...the more I realize that I love to draw. Love it. Pencil, watercolor, some gems and glitter...that's all I need...well, for this series anyway.
Well, it's late. Here are some close up pics of the finished piece...I have to start finishing work during the day so I can have better lighting...or stop being lazy and go scan'em... ...today was the seven-year anniversary of the day I married my best friend, John. Yep, seven awesome years. John is my best friend, my travelin' partner, my motivator, my art critic, he is my everything and I am so lucky to have him in my life. And I would like to think that I add some sparkle to his life as well :) Here is to many more years to come! My anniversary present..operation let John sleep in. For whatever reason, no matter how late I stay up I wake up around 7am...give or take thirty minutes. I stayed up late last night working on my Klimt-piece...and sure enough, I am up. Blah. (Dear internal clock, please learn to sleep in.) So, I decided I would go to the beach and draw. Only problem? The weather. I saw a few sprinkles on the short drive over to the beach, but I kept going. When I got there...it stopped. I went to my spot under the pier just in case the rain came back, and I would have stayed, but the wind was just too much. CED #197 ...back home, brushed off the sand and what do you know, John is awake. After a nice anniversary lunch I finished up CED #197 and now I am in comfy clothes working on another Klimt-inspired piece...here is a sneak peak of the piece in-progress |
