#AngelDropART ...what is it all about?

NOTE:  I just updated the slideshows on this page to the best of my abilitiy and lemme tell you- it was a pretty big task!  I did my best to document as many of the 'drops' as possible...looking forward to many, many more!- JLG (12-15-16)

I have been doing this whole #AngelDrop thing for a couple of years now and I think it's time that I try to organize it...put it all in one spot...create a movement...as of December 12, 2016 I have created over 1014 angels and put them out into the world.  It may not cure sickness, or bring world peace...but you better believe I am doing my part to put some love out into the world.

For starters, what is #AngelDropArt?

Pretty simple...it's me, making angel art and leaving them around for folks to find and keep...or pass on to someone that might need a little pick me up.

I actually started painting angel figures many years ago, inspired by the memory of my best friend, Amy German.  Amy was killed in a car accident in November of 1997, and this is my way of keeping some of her positivity out into the world, paying it forward- putting LOVE out to the universe.  Over the years I have kept at it, kinda developing one particular style, this whimsical gal you see, hanging on precariously to a star or heart, with striped stockings and red shoes...'cause she ain't your typical angel, she's feisty and fun...just like Amy.

This was Amy. She was an amazing person. She was a talented musician, had a quick wit, one of the funniest people I have ever met to this day...and beautiful inside and out. These angels are for Amy.

Evolution of the project...and the name

For folks that know me and have followed this side project through the years...you may know that originally I was called in 'angel bombing', which I really liked.  However, as I started to leave my angels in public places such as post offices and airport...anything with 'bomb' associated just didn't seem like a smart idea to me.  So I started to used #AngelDrop...and I still do.  Only issue is I noticed that there many images of people doing physical drops and I wanted to separate my art images...so I retagged everything with #AngelDropART. So I am using #AngelDropART now :)

I had thought about trying to keep up with a blog about the angels...but it just gets overwhelming when I am trying to blog about my daily art and also trying to post about my classroom (and I haven't been great about the latter).  However, I do write a blurb about 'drops' when I post to Instagram/FB so I am going let that suffice and instead make the goal for this page to just keep adding to an on-going slide show or picture gallery...I think I can commit to that!

But for now...it's official.  My angels have a home on-line.  If you happen to find one of my angels, please tag me on Instagram or email me pics, I love to see where they end up!

So..help me spread the love.  And there will be much more to come here...I just want to go ahead and get this whole thing up and running!!!
