A couple of times each nine weeks, I ask my AP and Portfolio students to 'present' their work to me and be ready to speak on where they are with their sustained investigation question, and with the progress of their artworks. It can be just a tiny bit stressful, but it keeps them on their toes- and also helps me to get a glimpse of all the works to date, and for the AP 2Ds to think about which pieces will be used for their 'quality' pieces.
...hopefully, somewhere in my three hours of video footage...which I built upon visiting Kim's classroom for a total of six visits...yeah, hopefully somewhere in that film there is some evidence that I deserve to be renewed as a NBCT!
The Women in the Visual Arts show is always a tough one- Blud and I can each only choose two students. In past years we done a pretty good job picking- because the works have won pretty nice scholarships and awards! Fingers crossed for this year!!
I am working on my National Board Teaching Certification renewal this year...and I had to 'borrow' a classroom in my original certification area (EMC Art) Lucky fo me I met Kim years ago teaching at the Armory and she was willing to let me work with one of her 6th grade classes. Wish me luck! I will be going a total of 6 times, gotta build a relationship with the kids and learn as much as I can and then- teach 'em!
