What can I say- teaching Fashion Camp at the Armory Art Center is always one of the highlights of my summer. I LOVE IT! This year we did a ton of hand stitching with an emphasis on upcycling. The campers re-purposed everything from old shirts to jeans into fun, fashion savvy pieces. (we went just a little handbag crazy!) We also made fashion binders for all of our sketches out of old binders from Resource Depot and worked together to create a group garment for the camp art show. I had a very talented group of campers and I can't wait til the next fashion camp!
Here are links to my previous fashion camps at the Armory; *I also did a camp in 2015 but I cannot for the LIFE of me locate the blog post...but I know I did one...will update if I figure out what happened... June 2017 July 2016
Welcome to the work room!
Oh yeah- almost forgot! Here is the finished dress! Not bad huh? It's amazing what you can do with some trashbags, hot glue, broken CDs, a cassette tape and a little imagination!
If you a Florida art teacher and you are attending FAEA conference sign up for one of my FASHION 2-hour workshops, I will make it fun- I promise! I have one focused on fashion illustration and another on recycled fashion. I will be happy to share ideas for how you can hold your own fashion camp in you community- I love sharing my ideas!
Oh, and this goes without saying- but anything I do is ALWAYS on a budget- always. Fashion camp this summer cost $60 (thanks, Armory!) a few trips to Resource Depot and a few trips in our respective closets to look for treasures.
