Tree Paintings for Wedding Guestbooks...say that five times fast

No fancy intro on smooth transition here, just wanted a chance to share a tree painting guest book I finished earlier this month. I had to wait to post it til after the wedding...now they have said their 'I dos' and I can share this with everyone!

The fallen leaves represent loved ones that could not be at the wedding.

I also wanted to post some other trees guest books I have created in the past...just 'cause...

This tree was for my friends Bill and Giselle, the guests 'signed' the tree with thumbprints.

This was another larger piece, for one of my former LRHS cheerleaders, Laura! (man, that sure made me feel old!)

Revisiting #MissMatchyMatchyART

For January I am actually revisiting a theme that I have done before. Back in January of 2015 I completed a series called #MissMatchyMatchyART. Each day I looked in my jewelry collection.

I guess I should mention that I have a thing for costume jewelry and have amassed a collection that might quite possible rival my idol, Iris Apfel. (I even GAVE her one of the pieces from that series-handed it to her in person in Miami when I interviewed her for Art Hive Magazine! Click here to read my ARTicle!)

For my 2015 series I created a fashion piece starring a character called 'Miss Matchy Matchy' and even included her lil' cat Trinket..plus more friends later in the series. (Link to the 2015 series intro)

It was a fun series for me to do...but, of course, I created some additional stress for myself by attempting to create a separate blog dedicated to the jewelry pieces mentioned. I gave details about where each piece came from, sometimes even info on my favorite ways to wear each piece. I really enjoyed that blog...but...it was just too much to keep up with and at some point I abandoned that extra part of the series. I view it (the blog) as a failure on my part because I did not complete that portion of my series, but I try to be pretty transparent in my art making process...so... ummm...here is a link to that incomplete blog; http://missmatchymatchy.blogspot.com

Actually, I just looked back on it a bit- I did better than I thought with keeping it updated throughout that series. I need to not be so hard on myself I reckon.

Anyhow, I love jewelry and fashion illustration so any excuse to combine the two works for me! I figured this time with my series I would focus on the head/shoulder area, not really worry too much about super detailed faces and instead put the emphasis on the jewelry.

I haven't posted the final images yet to my Gallery of FB Album...basically ever since we got back to Florida things have been non-stop...we had a major family health scare...some meet-ups with friends over the break...I had a quick trip to Orlando for a baby shower......oh, and I started work again-today. So those are all of my excuses for not having the final works posted- I have been keeping up with the art, just not the posting. But again, not going to stress myself out.

That being said, here is a picture of all the works so far with the jewelry piece that inspired each one. I hope to get my final images updated this week, plus I want to post about a workshop I will be teaching this coming Friday at CGMS...and another very special blog post that I have been wanting to write since my art show in NC that is VERY special to me.

HairZ and Necklaces on the Fly...

I am so grateful for my girlfriend Giselle of GS Makeup Artistry and Hairstyling for my haircut and highlights!

I knew she would make me look fancy, so I was so excited that morning I woke up and made a necklace out of colored pencils, layered it under a colorful beaded number and one of my sparkly pieces and headed on over;

For some reason I decided to make this in my studio bathroom...I think I was too lazy to clear the desk...

...here she is- my impromptu colored pencil statement necklace!
