I think most of ya'll know that I have been doing the whole 'Artist's Way' thing for I guess two years now- since 2021 when we were living in Wilmington, NC. The district offered professional development credit for a course based on reading the book, doing the morning pages, the artist date and a series of 'Weekly Check-Ins'...I started it, got the credit and just kept on going. I still get up extra early every day to write my three pages, I can't remember how many journals I have finished, it's over 10 (too lazy to to get up and go count)...I 'check in' with myself at the end of each week to see my progress on different goals, etc. And I try to make time for an 'Artist Date' each week. Some weeks I do a better job than others. This week- I really had a full dedicated day because I tagged along with my husband to his conference and had the whole day to myself at the hotel.  Dinner date with John the night before, then while he was at his conference the day was all mine! Morning pages, reading by the pool, a lil' field trip to the mall. I got a chance to check out the Young at Art space, and see the Broward Art Educator's Association show, and finally, get coffee and sketch in my journal at Barnes and Noble. It was a good day.  ...made a Broward-themed collage in my journal based on our mini-staycation.  Oh, and it's Willie's birthday today- 90 years old! Saw him for he first time at Coachella in 2007, here are some pics from that show. That man is a national treasure.  Friday night...Drive By Truckers in Fort Lauderdale...we actually kinda ate with them before the show. (I mean, the whole band ate at the same noodle place we did and we were literally beside them in line...sorry, I'm counting that!)  Saturday morning I went to the studio to journal (you can tell what was on my mind) and also get my daily art made, ya know...just in case John wanted to go to the show in Orlando, too....  Yup, we went. John woke up, bought the tickets, booked the hotel- we packed our bags and left. We worked our was right up front for this show- it was unreal.  Like we are gonna be in Orlando and NOT go to a park? No way! Also, we randomly managed to be in the line when the wheelchair accessible boat came through my FAVORITE ride in the whole park, Three Caballero. They asked if John and I would be okay riding on that one alone since we were the only ones not with small kids (yup, Disney adults!) and of course we said YES. Best. EVER.  If you get that reference, you're my people! Of course I had to be 'extra' for my final observation of the year- nothing but the best for Mrs. Winfrey, my AP!  $20 Poshmark boots turned into custom kicks for our 26th Willie show!  MoCo reunion. Had fun meeting up with Frank and Scott for the show, and shenanigans of course.  Quick trip, had time for a breakfast burrito, a pic with a fun mural and then it was time to catch out flight back to Florida. Quick weekend in Austin but worth it!  This was out first (and probably LAST) time hosting a family holiday. Not for us, if we do this again we will just be getting takeout, kudos to all of you that do this like it ain't no thang. BUT, it was great to have my sister and her family visit on their way to a cruise! And of course I enjoyed having the extra day off work to make art!  'New journal, who 'dis?'  Me trying to figure out what to do for the month of April after extending my last series a few days into the month...and then figuring it out while watching some wrestling...COFFEE PAINTINGS!!  Fun wedding weekend in Beaufort, NC!  This was my daily art from April 1st, the day of the wedding so I sent it to Tess after the wedding since it was inspired by her dress! |
