Well...my February 2017 series has come and gone. I feel that as a grouping the pieces are cohesive and for the most part, when viewed sequentially they 'read' they way I intended. My narrative for the first half of the month was to have a big-eyed gal completely enamored with LOVE. She represents the 'love struck' portion of the series title. Within the first fourteen days I allowed myself to go off on a tangent or two...from beauty queens to chocolate and pizza...heck, I even threw in an extra piece to celebrate the Super Bowl, just for fun! But then...February 14th came and went, and it was time to take things to the dark side. It was time for the 'love sucks' portion of the series! February 15th I started using more gray and blacks in my daily pieces to illustrate a different mood. These facial expressions were more expressive, ranging from nonchalant, to skeptical, confused and sad just to name a few. But I couldn't end on a sad note so in the second to last piece I transitioned into the beginnings of a happier piece, I split the background gray and red and then showed her 'peeking' with one eye...like she was saying, 'hey, is it safe for LOVE again?!' As for the last piece, she's happy again. She picked up a tattoo along the way, and learned to put a band-aid on those broken hearts and to 'keep it moving'. Oh, and case you are wondering- the banner on her tattoo reads, 'SELF' because that is she knows that in the words of 'Mama Ru'; ...as for my March series...ummmm...finalizing that idea...stay tuned!
