Whoa!!! 'She said love sucks!' Why...yes I did! But allow me to explain...I decided to give in to my love for holidays and use Valentine's Day as the inspiration for this month's series...I mean, I have done a 'Valentine's Day' theme EVERY February for the past five year- why stop now...oh, hey, here is a re-cap in case you wanna see 'em (click on the image to view the series); ...but for this month- I wanted to think of something different, at least a lil' different for this year. As I was looking back through some pics I can across this image; ...which reminded me of the event that we were headed to that day... ...that was back when Jess was still teaching. I was at teaching art at IMS (Go Thunderbirds!) We were so crazy...okay, we still are, but we were REALLY crazy then! We would participate in these fun group art shows...which entailed making all kinds of 'themed' art for an event...schleping our wares to downtown West Palm Beach after a long day of teaching (usually in some crazy/scandalous outfits)...selling art and talking to folks til 1:30-2am...packing up, driving home...and getting up at 5:30 to make the drive to our respective schools for another full day of teaching art. In hindsight, we should have bought stock in those energy drinks that kept us going...but that is neither here nor there. It is the THEME of that particular show, 'Love Struck, Love Sucks' that caught my attention. That will be my theme this month! My plan is to spend the first half of the month 'love struck'. From February 1-14th, its all about LOVE. But after that...things may get a little dark...well...not 'William Butler' dark...but like...black glitter dark. (insert evil laugh...that ends in a goofy snort) Right now the work is graphitone, colored pencil and marker...but that may change. Anyway, here are the first two pieces;
