 Happy birthday to my husband!!  ...finally got him to the beach for maybe the second time since we moved here!  It was a small Thanksgiving this year. I didn't get to see my family but we did make it to John's sisters house. So a small gathering, but a good one. With the best décor around, with special help from our niece of course!  Not pictured, Raffaele (our 'surprise guest') and my BIL, Justin  Gemma and I went on a leaf hunt and I used the leaves we found in my daily art.  The next day Gemma wanted to make a 'leaf girl like Aunt Jenny'...so I made MY leaf lady based on HER design! My best girl in Colorado keeps me inspired! Whether it is a random package in the mail, a funny meme or thoughtful text...or even sending me art ideas!  ...she sent me a pic of this little shawl that we can't afford...so I made it out of leaves!  Oh, and I mailed her some of the pieces from last month so she could search for 'fabric' in the Colorado mountains! We did a thing. A 'staycation' in downtown Wilmington with our 'bubble'. You know, literally the ONLY folks you see during a pandemic...  My favorite thing was the deck on the roof. I love this view of downtown.  Mornings...up by myself walking by the river...random leaf naps...and celebrating one of the bubs bdays  ...another walk by the river Sunday morning...  I also randomly stopped at Port City Java for coffee...and ended up initiating a conversation about showing my art!  I usually don't put up the tree til the day after Thanksgiving but with the craziness of this pandemic all bets are off. Christmas trees and holiday frocks are on full display! We wanted to see if we could make a trip to Orlando and back in one REGUALR weekend. Like, no extra day off. It was a success!  Neither of us is great at driving at night, but we made it to Savannah and even had time to get some slices at Vinnie's.  Next morning, straight to Universal...then to Mather's in their downtime to maintain or level of social distancing...which is literally just US. We don't like folks within 12 feet of us- forget 6! We managed to stay away from everyone!  Sunday we were just going to stop by Epcot for a snack when they opened and then get on the road but...that didn't happen. We did make it back to NC before 11pm, so we considered that a win! ...it started with the new Nasco catalog in my mailbox at school-with TWO pieces by my LWHS art students!! Yasssss! Top left is Nehemie's drawing. It won the top award in the Continuum Young Master's local art show, placed at Scholastics and is now in the Nasco catalog (that's her holding her Continuum ribbon)...and Shacira's paper dress was also featured in the Nasco catalog! This piece also placed at Scholastics- and it was featured in a student show at the Norton Museum of art. (that's her picture underneath with the dress form) Oh, and BOTH girls scored 5's on their AP 3D portfolios! So proud of them!
