 Not gonna lie, it was a little creepy to be in there after we left so abruptly and it has been empty for a month...but it was still great to just be there for a little bit...looking for missing AP work that I missed in the little bit of time I had to pack up what I needed to finish the semester virtually.

I had some really great heARTs submitted, these are just a few- there are more on Instagram, @studiogironda The best part is there are other schools in other states participating in our project, too!  The up side of everyone staying home during this quarantine? If there is one, besides folks not getting sick and dying of course...it would have to be that we are giving the earth a break for a bit. 
LOVED seeing Ashley Longshore as one of the guest judges on Project Runway- she is AMAZING! I love her bright colors, sassiness and SPARKLE! And I loved Brittany Allen's winning look!  ...and it gave me a reason to post some pics from our trip to Nola this past November...  ...'cause that was the closest I have ever been to Ashley Longshore- when I visited her gallery on Magazine Street- and left her a piece of art form my #Ode2LeopardJLG series!   What a weird Easter!! This is the first time we haven't been around family- I am sure that is the case for most folks. John and I still got dressed up to do a Zoom call with family and have a nice lunch...and then...back in my pajamas to make some art!   I figured I would make some different washes of coffee so I can have some different values to work with. So far my only frustration is even my darkest mix is still super light. Gonna try some different types of coffee, maybe leave some out and let it evaporate...  ...so far, so good... ...are the #quarantineheARTs still happening? Yup! Tag us! 
 When I was finishing these pieces (above) it made me think of some of the other 'multiple' pieces that I have done over the years, and I thought it would be fun to include them in a post. I know there are more, but here are some of 'em.  This diptych will always be on my of favorite pieces. I painted it during a course I took from Mr. Elmore over the summer. Each canvas was 24x36 and I used a cool saran wrap texture technique.  Chalk pastel piece I made after undergrad. I think John and I were living in Raleigh (sometime between 2003-2005)  Another piece I made sometime after undergrad. I can't rememer if we were living back home (2005-2006) or if it was when we lived in Raleigh (2003-2005) I gifted this to John and Jennifer.  My first year of making daily art- I did a month where I was working with collage, a little assemblage thrown in. This piece is actually made inside of a perfume box. I couldn't throw it out, it was PINK GLITTER...so I made this triptych.  2012, acrylic on canvas boards  2012, acrylic on canvas boards  2012, acrylic on canvas boards  2012, acrylic on canvas boards  September 2013, I was focused on music that month. This triptych was based of 'Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise' by the Avett Brothers, conté crayon, acrylic and acrylic wash on paper  April 2014, side project inspired by the portrait and poetry of a dear friend. (and she's a Leo, so that is why there is a lion) Conté crayon, acrylic/wash on paper  April 2014 (16x20, acrylic and conté crayon on canvas)Inspired by 'And Still I Rise by Maya Angelou...self portrait...was definitely 'in my feelings' and I ain't mad.  April 2016, was doing a tropical themed series that monthm and I did a ton of side pieces because I was using them for a show.  March 2019, part of my 'Golden Gals' series. It's not lined up here, but the actually pieces do line up. (acrylic,spray paint and gold leaf on board, 8x10) These were featured in a pop up show at the Cultural Council. Not gonna lie, and it may be selfish...but I am really bummed that the Muse Award ceremony won't happen for another year- I was really looking forward to receiving my award and being all fancy. Oh well...  Did I shamelessly dress up anyway and slap some makeup on just to take this pic on the day I was supposed to be at this event? Maybe. Okay, yes. Am I wearing my polka dotted pajama pants under this dress? Also maybe. Now...I just have to break the news to Milky :(  |
