An epiphany, and other ramblings.

Let's just say I have been in the midst of an artistic awakening...wow.  I have always loved figurative work...and I have always loved fashion.  When I draw or paint, I gravitate towards the female form.  I pour through the major fashion magazines, always have, ooohing an ahhhing over designs I will never be able to afford...but nonetheless, taking a breath before the turn of every page.  And you know what?  I never really made the connection that there was a whole world out there where art and fashion came together.  I mean, I have always considered fashion to be art, and vice versa...but I honestly didn't understand that there was something called fashion illustration. I started a new Pinterest Board today titled, 'Fashion Illustration that I love'.  It is just a start, but there are so many amazing images on this board...worth a look, check it out!

Now...I am not talking drawing specifically to design...no.  I am talking more of just drawing fashion, for the love of the lines, the silhouettes, the fabrics...just to capture the essence of a garment on paper.  I have literally spent hours trying to play catch up today, as if I could fit hundreds of years of labels and designers and illustrators into one day. I sure did try, each illustration leading to another...like some beautiful scavenger hunt.   My wrists hurt from being on the computer, typing, using the mouse...and I know there is so much out there to see and to learn.  And I am excited about this 'new' direction that my art could be heading in...

In other happenings...amazing lunch down in Deerfield with Maria and Oliver...and of course, we got to meet their HUGE cats...side note, I don't think I have ever met a cat I didn't like, and these two were very sweet.

...then a pit stop at Kevro's Art Bar to take some pics of the show for Art Hive.  Two gals, Emily and Heather, were showing work there so John and I stopped by to see their art, and to check out the venue.  Really cool, eclectic  place with a bar, stage area set up with a DJ, ping pong tables, lounge chairs, mist when you walked outside in the back patio...and art...just everywhere.  The show was still being set up, but it looked to be a good one.  Some really colorful sea-themed pieces.

Pics from the show at Kervo's Art Bar...John's shirt says 'Support the Arts'...and we did! We do!
Finally...just the usual Saturday night, hanging out at home.  I worked on a commissioned piece for a friend in Philadelphia, and of course, my daily drawing #252... timed, ten minutes start to finish,
