Eye spy...

Mackie doesn't mind my four eyes!

I mentioned in a previous blog post (or two) that I found out I had a corneal ulcer on Valentine's Day, right?  Yep, nothin' says romance like a bloodshot eye in immense pain that won't stop tearing up! 

​I had already planned my theme for March but then I was inspired by my vision situation to create a series of gals in glasses.  So that is the rhyme and reason behind the series...I am stuck wearing my glasses for most of the month so my ladies in my art are gonna wear 'em, too!

​But I have included glasses in my work before.  Here are a some examples;

From the works in the slideshow, I pulled out a few that are inspiring the series so far;

It wasn't my intention...but as I was working on my first piece in the series it made me recall some past pieces...I thought of the use of newspaper I used in March 2012 and 2013...the glasses motif from my July 2014 series and the piece that I completed last night made me think of a quick series I made for my solo show at Dada in 2015.

So that's basically it...the series is inspired by the fact that I have to wear my glasses...and I wanted to work on newspaper/printed material.  I thought that also tied in with the idea of glasses and vision because sometimes folks have to wear glasses to read the paper.  Not me of course- I'm as blind as a bat, gotta wear my glasses all the time!
