Truth be told, I have been living in Florida ten years now and it FINALLY happened. I became a 'Disney girl'. All these years my friends were always going. I went a time or two, but I was never one of those Disney-crazed folks. Until I was. So based on this newfound love for the Disney parks (fueled by the upgrade to passholders- that's when you know you are in it!)...yeah, so based on that I decided to dedicate my February 2020 series to Disney. Now, this ain't my first rodeo with the Disney art. My first Disney-themed series was back in March 2015. I was working with my 'big eyed gals' and I looked to the different 'princesses' as my inspiration- and even other characters, too- but in a female persona. As the series progressed I did included some 'Disney Duos', like Ariel and Ursula- those were fun. And of course, because I am 'extra' I did some extra pieces- a side series I called my 'Disney Noir' series. That group of works focused on the 'bad girls' and I worked with acrylic on black paper. I revisited Disney again in December 2017- this time with a FASHION twist. Each day I created a fashion illustration based on the same characters as my first series. I used the original costumes as the inspiration for each garment, changing it up a little bit but keeping the iconic features to make them recognizable. Which brings me to my 2020 version. For this month I will be recreating the same pieces, in the same order, but updating each 'lewkk'. Also- I am a sucker for holidays, so I decided to make this series in 'Valentine's Day' colors- pinks and reds, just 'cause. Here are the first three pieces;
