I decided to revisit my 'Fashion Grind' series from April 2020 for February. I actually hadn't planned on it, even though I really did love that series, but I had not planned on revisiting it at this time. Eventually I knew I would, however the universe had other plans.
I had a woman contact me after seeing my work up at Port City Java asking about some commissions, which was obviously really exciting. My only thing is...I needed to be back 'in the vibe' of that series. It is hard for me to just do one piece from a previous series, I need to immerse myself back in it...so I chose to do that by revisiting the series for this month.
Here's a refresher on what that first series looked like;
In addition to the coffee paintings, I had to decide about what to do for my sewing side project this month...which I really need to come up with a better name for...I digress.
Last month I started off with the bare cotton canvas, but I hand painted some watered down acrylic on there. My thinking was I would go through the rainbow of colors in ROYGBIV order, but of course starting off with pink before my red. So for this month's piece I went into that red, and added a pink heart from some hand dyed fabrics I made in grad school and have been holding onto for years.
And of course if just happened to go with a Valentine's day color scheme, and I do love a holiday!
