Spring Break!

Spring break flew by, per usual.

We switched some of our travel plans around (really just switched the order) to make a trip to NC to spend time with family. It was one of the most low-key trips home we have taken, not too much runnin' around, really just visiting with family.  I even got in a nap or two, worked on my art (of course!) and managed to get my Biscuitville fix.

It was a short trip but a good one...and if you are so inclined, please send prayers, positive thoughts (whatever you're into, I'm not picky) towards our people back in NC...got some family sick.

Scenes from 'back home...not in order, there are pics of family, close family friends, pups, our fav Mexican spot, artin' and a stylish baby cousin
Then we headed back...made record time (for us).  I had a couple of days to myself to get some things of my self-inflicted 'to-do' list.  Besides cleaning and organizing my studio the largest task I took on was FINALLY going through all the framed pieces from my retrospective...ummmm...yep...the one in JANUARY!! I procrastinated, but I did finally take all of the pieces out of the frames, wrap the frames up for storage and then I filed away each of the almost sixty pieces from the past five years into their respective folder and storage bin, in chronological order....yup.  It was intense to say the least.

For the last part of spring break John and I took an overnight trip over to the west coast of Florida to see the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.  We managed to get there in time for a beautiful 'west coast' sunset (...can't wait to see the real thing in May!!), had a dining debacle in 'Mad Beach', found a really good barbecue spot...oh yeah, and we saw the exhibit of course!

...pictures don't do it justice...it was a great sunset :)

You know...I didn't take too many pics while we were at the museum.  I was really making a conscious effort to be present and really experience the exhibit.  I wanted to look at every piece of art, every photo and read all the captions and information about Frida.  And I did.

Totally touristy and an IG photo opp but 'when in Rome'...and I don't care, I love this pic...and Frida...and this man!

...the area around the museum is so beautiful, right on the water. It was a beautiful day out, too.
...oh, and my daily art- I kept up with it, it's part of my life now.  I decided to bring Frida into my pieces, but to make it fit my theme I gave her some sunglasses.  These ended up being some of my favorite pieces from the series!
